Are there any specific legal requirements that I should be aware of when driving in Italy?

Every country has its own 'version' of the Highway Code and upon collection of your vehicle, you should take some time to familiarise yourself with any local driving regulations or Laws. Our local car rental partner will be more than happy to explain any such regulations, and where necessary, provide written documentation to help with any further explanations. Within Italy, a recent addition has been made to the Highway Code - the Codice Della Strada - which states that "it is obligatory to have dipped headlights on, even in daytime, on all extra-urban roads" - i.e. outside urban / built up areas. The law adds that "on urban roads it is optional".
